last week i did a little sewing for others....

i made eye pillows filled with flax seed and crushed lavender flowers

made these for my sister in law to give as gifts. love them! i'm making more to give out as well. they smell so wonderful! lavender is my favorite. warm this up in the microwave for 20 seconds, lay across your eyes. feels heavenly.

my client brought me the vinyl fronts from several Barbie Doll Carrying Cases. from the 60's people. pretty fun retro colors.

i have a little more sewing to finish before Christmas. really enjoying sewing with this new machine my mom passed down to me. i love it! thanks mom!

my favorite and cheapest christmas gift to the boys... did you see this placemat collage idea on Clover Lane? I love picasa. so i knew i'd have to make them one. so easy! easy to wipe clean. lots of fun pictures from this year to look at, talk about over our meals together.

these cookies are SO SUPER GOOD! my new holiday favorite. thanks to Joy's Hope for sharing the recipe. I can't wait to make these for everyone I know. they are that GOOD!
Ingredients:

1 pouch Betty Crocker snickerdoodle cookie mix, found at Target during the holidays

4 oz. cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup butter, softened

1 tablespoon water

1 egg

1 cup sweetened dried cranberries

1 cup white chocolate chips


Beat together cream cheese and butter until smooth. Open cookie mix. Set aside cinnamon sugar packet. Add water, egg and cookie mix to cream cheese mixture. Stir until soft dough forms. Add in cranberries and white chocolate chips. Cover & refrigerate 30 minutes.

Roll in cinnamon sugar to coat. Place two inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake a 375º for 8-9 minutes until edges are set. Cool one minute then transfer to cooling rack. Enjoy!

i re-made this pretty flowery bag for my neice. the original bag was super cute, but just not big enough for folders and books that a 10 year needs to carry for school.
she fell in love with the flowers on the front, so I cut it out and sewed it on similar fabric as a patch, and made a much larger tote. cool!

editing pictures, decorating for christmas, and lots of sewing are topping my to-do list for the next few days. over and out!

one week from today...

the boys start kindergarten! yay!! whaa!
mixed emotions for sure.
mostly happy emotions. i know they will love it.this weekend we've turned off the tv and video games. they are learning to write their names. they are doing really well!
corbin is a true lefty. cooper is still switching between hands. he wrote this completely left handed.

it's been all things perfectly paisley around here this week. of course adam has been a huge help. cutting, monogramming, fixing my spare machine... having an assistant makes things go so much quicker. so thank you honey.

the boys are at Nana's this week. it's so quiet. i'm taking advantage of the time to sew from sun up to sun down. and catch up on what's on the DVR. friday night lights, deadliest catch.

hope everyone had a good 4th of July. we had such a good time with family in town... more on that another day.

the happiest day

oh so happy! last Monday was a SUPER great day!
one of my happiest days in a while.
i finally delivered this project to it's owner.
she was pleased, and i was elated to be done.
then me and the boys drove to my sister in laws to play play play for a few days.
{i talked to my mom and mother in law first thing after making delivery of the organizer.} they both had been praying for me as i muscled through to just get it done. thank you... those prayers truly pulled me through. i found strength and perservance i didn't know i had. a lot of trial and error and error with the making of this. lessons learned while mastering the art of seam ripping. for sure!

the finished product is really cool and useful.
hoping for a picture of it hanging in her office soon. i made it in four panels, 56 pockets that hold 8 1/2 x 11 paper, 9 grommets along the top for hanging. it was heavy and bulky to sew. we used outdoor furniture type canvas material. adam helped me measure and sew on pockets. i was so thankful and desperate for help. he jumped right in. thanks babe! here's evidence of me everyday the week before. the boys grabbed my camera and took a picture of me. they were so patient while i finished this up. i made lots of promises for fun if i could just get it done. sunday night corbin told me at bedtime "mama i hope you get all your sewing done tonight". ahhh love that boy. i stayed up until 3 am working, and got back up at 6am. he came in my room about 6:30am while i was packing and ironing, and asked "mama, did you ever go to bed last night?". i didn't know i had an almost all nighter in me anymore. crazy what we can do when we just push ourselves.

thankful

life doesn't always go as planned. help others anyway. it's my new favorite quote. i read it at liferearranged.com. perfect! and inspiring.
adam did a great job on this fence. our incredibly awesome next door neighbor's fence. i have to post a picture of the inside of the gate in a few days. way cool new gate door complete with a concrete pad underneath. i tell ya, that husband of mine is brilliant. we will call it the fence that started it all. ha! since then he's repaired two others, bid on replacing another one, and has a repair to complete on a fence two doors down tomorrow. a real furry of work from all different directions right now. work is happening around here. the list of jobs to do is growing daily. i'm making some real progress on this custom sewing project. i can't wait to see it hanging on a wall. all 100" x 60" of it.the boys are busy keeping up with mom and dad's fast paced days. they always find some way to lighten our mood.i love their innocence, curiosity, playfulness, imagination. love my littles BIG!corbin picked me some wildflowers yesterday. i love them.
